Module #12 Video Review
1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above.
I selected the two vidoes Uncertainty: Modernity and Art and Andy Warhol: Images of an Image as I found both of them aroused my interest and read as something new to me and creative.
2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
In the film Uncertainty: Modernity and Art I learned that during the 20th century art evolved and the rising popularity of abstraction and expressionism was juxtaposed with changes in modern life. Andy Warhol: Images of an Image video I learned Andy Worhol was a very talented artist who saw society as it was and understood its hyper-consumerism and obsession media and also was influenced by the pop art movement.
2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
The Uncertainty video largely discusses modern art of the 20th century relates to the 22 chapter of the text which also examines the rising popularity of abstraction and expressionism. In the Andy Warhol film we look at his life and some of his artwork and the text discusses the visual movement which was often dispalyed in his work Pop Art.
3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?
Uncertainty: Modernity and Art and Andy Warhol: Images of an Image were both really great as Uncertainty explored human nature how we portray ourselves in art comparing the works of different artist Andy Warhol's video gave us great insight into the artist and into our cultures relationship with art. The first film brings depth to the text by analyzing art and its evolution in modern society as well as discuss how that stem from human nature. The next video was significant in its relationship to the text as it discusses Andy Worhol's life and his influence on modern society with the impact of his creativity and contributions to pop art.
